Fact o' the Week

Most people believe Red Bull was born in Austria. However, it was originally created in Thailand by Chaleo Yoovidhya and went by the name "Krathing Daeng," (Thai for "Red Water Buffalo"). Yoovidhya had a chance meeting with Austrian toothpaste salesman Dietrich Mateschitz, and the two went into business together. Mateschitz added some fizz and the now-iconic blue and silver can, and renamed it "Red Bull" before launching it in Austria in 1987.

Fact o' the Week

In a fight between honey bees and an inch-long Japanese hornet, who would win? Normally, when hornets attack, they kill all the worker bees, before looting the hive for larvae and food. To combat this, the bees developed a defense strategy to stop the predators. The defense is known as a "Hot Defensive Bee Ball" in which the bees swarm over their foes in such numbers that hornets are, literally, cooked inside a ball of bees. The bees swarm over the hornets in groups of up to 500, and start vibrating their wings until the temperature reaches 116 degrees Fahrenheit (47 degrees C). The heat is fatal for the hornets.
